Currently, Seawolf Division is comprised of approximately
thirty highly motivated cadets that conduct monthly weekend drills at the Naval Support Activity, Panama City and in Bonifay.
All new Cadets must attend two weeks of military training
upon acceptance into the program. Additionally, they are allowed to train onboard U.S. Naval Ships and shore-based Activities,
as well as attend consolidated versions of many of the Navy Class 'A' and Class 'C' Schools.
The Commanding Officer, LT John Duncan, proudly points
out the accomplishments of his cadets. This past summer many of them stepped up to the plate and excelled in two-week Advanced
Training programs such as the Naval Special Warfare Orientation Course, Firefighting, Homeland Security Training, Photo
Journalism, and Submarine Seminar.
These are the same challenging curricula that Active
Duty Enlisted Navy Sailors complete as part of their required training for the various skills required to work aboard
U. S. Navy Ships, Aircraft squadrons, ground warfare units and Submarines in the Fleet.
These excellent courses, taught by active duty &
retired service members, demand the same level of excellence from the cadets, who range in age from eleven to eighteen
years. In addition to the high scholastic standards expected of the cadets, they are expected to meet military standards of
conduct and physical training.
The members of Seawolf Division have also distinguished
themselves to the public with stellar Color Guard and Parade Details throughout Panama City and surrounding areas. Furthermore,
their community service contributions in support of the Ironman Triathalon, area clean-ups and other civic-minded evolutions
have shown the caliber of these young Americans.
There are far too many advantages of becoming a Naval
Sea Cadet to list here. To name a few, it is a definitive stepping stone for admission to The U.S. Naval Academy,
other Service Academies and acceptance into the Recruit Officer Training Corps.
For Cadets who put forth the effort to advance in
the prescribed path within the Sea Cadet Corps and choose to enlist in the US Navy, they will advance in pay grade
earlier than their counterparts upon completion of Basic Training.
Overall life skills such as navigation, knot tying, self
defense and appreciation of heritage are integrated throughout all aspects of training. These contribute to our overall goal
of providing the leaders of tomorrow with the tools to meet that future, full speed ahead.
Regardless of their eventual decisions, the skills and
maturity developed in the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps provide a foundation of excellence that will enable them to face those
tough choices with a clear understanding of our Core Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
